Not Only, But Also

The decision to not only consider our own interests but also the interests of others will make a huge impact on stressed pregnant mothers, at-risk unborn babies and confused families in The Coastal Bend.

The REACH Ministries Board of Directors had scheduled sports superstar, Tim Tebow, to be the keynote speaker for our outreach events in 2019 which would be postponed and rescheduled 3 times due to Covid-19 and the Texas Winter Storm last year.

The scripture passage in Philippians 2:4 began to grab our attention after the Winter Storm: “Look out for each other’s interests and not just for your own.”  We often think about that on an individual level, but it also has application for one non-profit ministry, like ours, to another.

So we knew The Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend was planning their first in-person fundraising banquet since Covid shutdowns , but they did not have a speaker, and we wanted to apply Philippians 2:4.  The REACH Board gladly decided to provide them with a speaker they could not afford – Tim Tebow.  In making that decision, we concluded the Pregnancy Center’s impact for the Lord would be far greater than ours, therefore increasing ours, too!

The rest of the story is how God blessed his work.  On Banquet night, March 3rd, the Pregnancy Center had the largest crowd in their 32-year history!  There were 1,500 more in attendance than at any previous fundraiser!  The gifts and pledges totaled over $857,000!  Many guests reported that Tim Tebow delivered the most powerful message they had ever heard at the recurring event.

You can see how our decision will make a huge impact on stressed pregnant mothers, at-risk unborn babies and confused families in The Coastal Bend!

“Look out for each other’s interests and not just for your own.”
